OBITUARY
Funeral services for Willard A. Gordon, age 77, a former Winterset resident were held Monday, July 14, at Minneapolis, Minnesota. Pastor Ivar Aus of Central Lutheran officiated. Burial was made at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
A son of James Arthur (Red) and Sarah Katherine Lease Gordon in Madison Co., Iowa, June 21, 1898. He was a great grandson of Caleb and Ruth Clanton Clark, the first pioneer family to settle permanently in Madison County. He was married to Amanda Tennyson of Quinn, South Dakota in Winterset. He served with Co. A 168th Infantry, 42nd Rainbow Div. and received a Purple Heart. He was an iron worker for many years.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Farlow of Winterset, two grandchildren, Franklin Farlow of Winterset and Mrs. Martha Kay Dorn, North Hollywood, Calif., one great grandchild, Katy Ann Dorn, North Hollywood, Calif., and by two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Beerbower, Winterset and Mrs. Mildred Howell, Sacramento, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
