Anna May Howell, Winterset

Funeral services for Anna May Howell of rural route Winterset who died July 10, 1992 at Winterset Care Center South, were held at Collins Funeral Home, July 15. Howell, 93, a homemaker, was born in Madison County July 25, 1898, the daughter of Irvin W. and Susan Hill Gordon.

A lifetime resident of Madison County, Anna Howell was raised by adoptive parents John S. and May Allgeyer and she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Other affiliations included chairperson of the Farm Bureau Women and she was first president of the Democratic Women's Club in Madison County. In addition, Howell was a midwife for Dr. Veltman during the 1940s.

Surviving relatives include a son, Charles Irvin Howell of Santa Rosa, Calif.; daughter, May Jean Clark of Winterset, and Anna Belle Garrett of Bellevue, Wash.; four grandchildren, one step grandson, ten great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Howell who was divorced, was preceded in death by her parents and adoptive parents, a brother, sister and one grandson.
