Paul and Norene (Holms) Evans


Paul was my Dad's younger brother. Paul was the third son of Lyle and Pearl Evans.

Services for Paul I. Evans of 2336 Farwell Road will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Southtown Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Evans died Saturday of a heart ailment at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. He was 75.

Born in Fontanelle, Mr. Evans lived in Winterset before moving to Des Moines in 1945. He was a supervisor for Spencer-Kellogg Oil Processing Co.

Survivors include two brothers, Ralph of West Burlington and L. Dean of Des Moines.

Noreen Evans Dies In Des Moines

Mrs. Paul Evans of Des Moines, a resident of the Winterset Community most of her life, died at a Des Moines hospital Friday, May 5, of a heart attack. She was 58 years of age.

Mrs. Evans was the former Noreen Holmes, daughter of Frank and Luella Holmes. She was born Aug. 4, 1913 in Waco, Nebr. She attended the Winterset schools and was employed for several years by Northwestern Bell Telephone company in Winterset, before being transferred to Des Moines. She had retired two years ago.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Evans of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Fontella DeWitt of Winterset; and two brothers, Cloyce Holmes of Ojai, Calif., and Orris Holmes of Van Nuys, Calif.

Funeral services were held May 8 from the Hamilton Funeral home in Des Moines, with grave-side services at the Winterset cemetery.
