Charles B. Gordon of 722 N. Fifth St., Winterset, died Saturday, April 12, at Winterset Care Center North at the age of 84. He was a lifelong resident of Winterset.
Born on Aug. 23, 1895, in Winterset, he was the son of Charles William and Anna Alice Burns Gordon. An army veteran of World War I, Mr. Gordon was united in marriage to Bronna Blanche Hart Butler on Nov. 1, 1930, in Trenton, Mo. A retired painter and paper hanger, Mr. Gordon was a member of the American Legion and attended the Baptist Church.
Among the survivors are his wife Bronna; a son, Charles O. Gordon of Winterset; a stepson, Forrest Hall Butler of St. Joseph, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Mildred Louise Schirm of Winterset; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Madolyn Morrissey of Winterset. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Phill Hall officiating.
Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Bronna Blanche Gordon, 97, of Winterset died of a heart ailment March 11, 2001, at Winterset Care Center North.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating. Visitation will be held today (Wednesday March 14) from noon to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.
Bronna Gordon was born June 10, 1903 in Mercer County, Mo., to Willard P. Hall and Sarah (Overton) Hart. She married Charles B. Gordon on Nov. 11, 1930 in Trenton, Mo. Bronna, a resident of Winterset for the past 71 years, had been a waitress at the Aldo Cafe, Victory Cafe and the Starlight Cafe. She also had been a clerk at the Ben Franklin store. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winterset.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and seven sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Forrest Hall Butler (wife Dorothy) of St. Joseph, Mo., and Charles Olson Gordon (wife Jean) of Winterset; a daughter, Mildred Butler Schirm of Winterset; a sister Kanna J. Taylor of Princeton, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Winterset Care Center North Activity Fund or Middle River Hospice.
