Catharine A. Tapper, 88, of Webster City, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the Hamilton Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Foster Chapel, with Pastor Ray Artrip and Dr. Craig Bex officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday.
Catharine A. Johnson, daughter of Ralph and May Smith Johnson, was born August 13, 1917 at Ledyard, Iowa. She received her education at Huntley, MN and Liberty #6, south of Blairsburg. On June 27, 1938 she married Harm H. Tapper, Jr. at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. The couple farmed in the Homer area for nine years, then moved to the Tapper famiy farm, southeast of Webster City, in 1949. Harm died June 24, 1982. Later in 1982, she moved to Webster City. From 1990 to 2002, she was married to Harold C. Nelson. She continued to reside at Webster City.
Catharine is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Linda Tapper of Webster City; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Gail Utter of Phoenix, AZ; Connie and Dan VanDemark of Blairsburg; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Leo Hall of Tucson, AZ; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, James and Glenn Johnson; sisters, Ruby Andrew and Vera Nelson.
She was an active member of the Church of Christ, church circles, Independence Friendly Neighbors Club, Hobby Club, Webster City Womens Club and was a 4-H leader for several years.
She was her happiest when surrounded by her family and close friends. She enjoyed very much being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be given to the Hamilton County Hospice/Respite, American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

Janice R. Wing 70, of Webster City, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Southfield Wellness Community. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday morning at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday evening at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
Janice Ruth Short daughter of Howard and Dorothy Johnson Short was born on March 23, 1939 in Webster City. She received her education from the Webster City Community Schools, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1958. On May 29, 1959 she married Merle Wing at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Janice was a homemaker and also worked as bookkeeper for Merle's Motor Repair for over 25 years, until the couple retired on December 27, 2007.
Survivors include her husband, Merle; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Jim Mitchell all of Webster City; sisters, Donna Hoversten of Alden; Judy (Philip) Frakes of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Webster City.
