On August 1, 1944 Charles A. Johnson, son of Olaf and Julia Johnson passed away at his home after several weeks of illness, at the age of 86 years and 6 months. He was born February 1, 1858 near Princeton, Ill., and spent most of his youth in Iowa. Later he returned to Ill. where he was employed for several years by C.B.&Q Railroad. Charles Johnson was united in marriage to Anna Catherine Peterson on November 5, 1884. To this union were born two sons, Corneal and Eber, and one daughter Ida. After his marriage, Charles Johnson lived on farms near Plano and Newark until March, 1917, at which time he retired and moved to Plano. Here he spent the rest of his life, becoming well known for his carpenter work. He is survived by his wife Anna, one son, Eber, one daughter, Mrs. Jay Means, seven grandchildren, all of Plano; two brothers, Fred and James both of Iowa, and several nieces and nephews. One son, Corneal, preceded him in dearh on June 22, 1943.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 4 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran church, with Rev. E. Leo Johnson officiating. Comforting hymns were rendered by Mrs. Pearl Johnson,accompanied by Miss Clara Miller. Internment was in Plano cemetery.
