Death of Albert T. Gordon
Albert Teil Gordon, who made his home for many years in Winterset, died Friday, September 19th, at Clarinda, at the age of 73 years. The deceased was a son of Newton and Charlotte Gordon, and was born in this county, July 18, 1857. He grew to manhood in this community and became a professor of music. In this work he traveled to many states. He was also engaged in theatrical work.
On April 8, 1878, he was married to Alice Allen, and they were the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Avo Bailey, of Des Moines, and Essie, who died February 14, 1900.
In 1902 the Gordons moved to Caldwell, Idaho, and Mr. Gordon remained there until 1915, when he returned here. In 1924 he suffered a nervous breakdown, from which he failed to recover.
He leaves besides his daughter, four brothers and one sister: Neton Gordon, of Indianola; Nelson, of Caldwell, Idaho, and William, Arthur and Mrs. J. F. Turner, of Winterset. He also leaves one grandson and one great grandchild.
The Rev. John T. Hall, pastor of the Winterset Baptist church, conducted the funeral services Monday, September 22, at two o’clock, at Tidrick’s funeral home, and interment was made in the Winterset cemetery.
