Nick Dorrell, Winterset

Funeral services for Nicholas Gordon Dorrell, 86, were held November 14 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with the Rev. Leonard Leslie officiating. Mr. Dorrell died November 11, 1992, at Bethesda Care Center. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

He was born in Madison County on October 27, 1906, to Gold S. and Bertha P. (Gordon) Dorrell. He married Hazel Gideon on November 7, 1929 in Aurora, Neb. He was a retired stone mason having worked at Winterset-Des Moines Monument Company. He was a lifelong resident of Winterset.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son; three brothers; one sister; and one granddaughter.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Hazel of Winterset; two daughters, Nadine Hain of Coralville, and Eva Dorrell of Des Moines; two brothers, Ronald Dorrell of Winterset and Woodrow Dorrell of Bakersfield, Calif.; two sisters, Betty O'Neill of Whittier, Calif. and Bea Bradshaw of Winterset; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
