Miss Ely, 89 Died Today

Miss Atta Ely, 89, lifelong resident of the Webster City community, died early this morning at the Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient the past two and one-half weeks. She had been in ill health the past four years.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster funeral home with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Carrie Atta Ely, daughter of George and Carrie Ely, was born March 24, 1874, on a farm four and one-half miles north of Webster City. When she was 10 years old, she moved with her parents into Webster City, where they resided for two years before returning to the farm.

Two years later, the family moved back to Webster City and for the past 70 years Miss Ely had resided at 919 Second St.

Miss Ely is survived by several nieces and nephews
including Warren Callery of Webster City, Charles Callery of Boone, Miss Carrie Callery, Webster City, Mrs. Earl (Margretta) Orr of Eagle Grove, and Lauretta Evans, all of whom were reared in Miss Ely's home. Also surviving are several grand-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, several brothers and sisters.

Miss Ely was a member of the Universalist church and was a past president of the Association of Universalist Women.
