ANNA GORDON DIED LAST WEDNESDAY
Death Occurs After Long Period of Failing Health
A Winterset resident for 66 years, Mrs. William Gordon, died at her home in Winterset Wednesday, Feb. 16, after an extended period of failing health. She was 73 years of age.
Mrs. Gordon was the former Anna Alice Burns, daughter of John and Sarah Greer Burns, and was born at Angus, Ontario, Canada, on July 21, 1875. When she was 7 years old she moved with her parents to Winterset, and this community had since been her home.
She was married to Charles William Gordon in Winterset on Dec. 21, 1892. They were the parents of five children. One daughter, Mrs. Gladys Cooper, preceded her in death.
She had been a member of the Winterset Baptist church since childhood, and took an active part in its affairs until her health failed.
Surviving are her husband; four children, Charles B. Gordon, Harold D. Gordon and Mrs. Madolyn Morrissey, all of Winterset, and Mrs. Hallie Groom of Spokane, Wash. She also leaves a granddaughter, Mrs. Annabelle Cooper Kelleher of Spokane, whom she reared in her home after the child's mother died in 1925. In addition to eight other grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, she leaves one brother, Miller Burns of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Richard's Funeral home in charge of the Rev. F. Don Worden, pastor of the Winterset Baptist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
