Lyle and Pearl Evans raised their children in Winterset, Iowa. The oldest boys were born in Adair county and the family moved when they were quite small. Grandpa Evans grew up on a farm in Adair co. and Grandma Pearl grew up in Adel. Her grandparents, Samuel and Nancy Gordon, were some of the early settlers of Madison county. They later moved to Adel.
