MUSGRAVE EVANS (EVAN4, THOMAS3, EVAN AP2 EVAN, IEVAN KNOWN AS EVAN ROBERT1 LEWIS) was born Abt. 1725 in Gwynedd twp., Philadelphia (now Montgomery) Co., Pennsylvania, and died 1769. He married LYDIA HARRY December 12, 1753 in Radnor Meeting house, Chester (now Delaware) Co., PA, daughter of SAMUEL HARRY. She was born Abt. 1733 in Of Radnor, Chester (now Delaware) Co., PA.

Musgrave Evans in Philadelphia MM records (Hinshaw):

Musgrave Evans and brother David received on certificate from Gwynedd MM dated 1748, 8, 25.

1753, 8,24 - Musgrave Evnas got certificate to Haverford MM to marry.

1755, 1, 31. Lydia, wife of Musgrave Evans received on certificate from Haverford MM.

5 mo 27 1763 - Musgrove Evans and Lydia & children Samuel, Martha, Ann & Thomas got certificate to Haverford MM.

Musgrove Evans died 2 (Feb.)-1-1769, ae 42.

Notes for LYDIA HARRY: in her marriage certificate she is described as the daughter of Samuel Harry of Radnor. (this is how Howard Jenkins has it in his Evans genealogy)

Children of MUSGRAVE EVANS and LYDIA HARRY are:

i. SARAH EVANS.

ii. MARTHA EVANS.

iii. ANN EVANS.

iv. THOMAS EVANS.

218. v. SAMUEL EVANS, b. Abt. 1754, Pennsylvania; d. 1825, Jefferson Co., NY.

v. RICHARD EVANS, b. May 1764, d. November 7, 1765 (Philadelphia MM Records, as abstracted by Hinshaw).

vi. ELIZABETH EVANS, b. October 1765, d. November 24, 1765. Philadelphia MM Records: Elizabeth, daughter of Musgrove Evans died 11-24-1765, aged 6 weeks (Hinshaw)

101. DAVID EVANS (EVAN4, THOMAS3, EVAN AP2 EVAN, IEVAN KNOWN AS EVAN ROBERT1 LEWIS) was born Abt. 1733 in Gwynedd twp., Philadelphia (now Montgomery) Co., PA, and died 1817 in H. Jenkins says "Of Spruce St., Philadelphia PA". He married LETITIA THOMAS August 10, 1755 in Philadelphia, PA. She was born Abt. 1737 in Of Radnor twp., and died Abt. 1815 in Mifflin Co., PA.

Notes for DAVID EVANS:

Howard Jenkins: David Evans, "Of Spruce St.," Philadelphia, house carpenter, son of Evan, of Gwynedd, m. Aug. 10, 1755, Letitia Thomas, of Radnor. David d. 1817, aged 84, and was bu. at Friends ground, 4th and Arch Sts. This couple had a large family of children, but only part of their names, as follows have been obtained...

Philadelphia MM Records:

Musgrave Evans and brother David received on certificate from Gwynedd MM dated 1748, 8, 25.

Letitia, wife of David received on certificate from Radnor MM, dated 1763, 12, 8.

Bob Smith's genealogy says David died in Centre Co., PA. I wonder about this since he gives a child not included in Jenkins' Evans genealogy with a conflicting birthdate (Israel b. 17 Oct 1770 conflicts with David b. 26 Jun 1770) and Jenkins says he is buried at Arch St. meeting house.

At our monthly meeting held in Gwynedd the 30th of the 4th month 1776

4th David Evans gave in a Certificate for himself and wife & their four Children viz Leticia, Gulielma, Charles & David from Philadelphia Monthly Meeting of the Southern District dated the 27 of the 3rd month last, wherein they recommend him a friend well esteemed amongst them, a diligent attender of Meetings, and serviceable in the discipline of the Church -- his Wife also a diligent attender of meetings when in health & of a sober conduct & well esteemed and their Children young. They don’t think it needful to say much but recommend them with their parents; which was read in this Meeting and well received.
