"Temple Dill, aged 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Dill of Creston, was crushed to death in a car of lumber at North Platte, Neb., while beating his way to Omaha on his way home. He was employed as messenger boy in a telegraph office at Creston previous to going west."

For most of their married life, Rosa and Grant lived in Creston, Union County, Iowa where Grant was a barber. In about 1925, they moved to Trinidad, Colorado where Grant died in 1926.

Rosa lived in Denver at the time of the 1930 census when she was working as a stenographer. She was a 58-year-old white female who had been born in Nebraska. Her father had been born in New York and her mother in Indiana.

In January of 1936, Rosa married a man named John Bjornquist or Bjorquist.

Benjamin Dewey Miller, 81, retired hydrant and valve maintenanceman in T&D, died May 25, in St. Anthony Hospital following a long illness.

Miller, born Feb. 21,1898 in Walsenburg, Colo., attended grade school there and later worked as a coal and rock miner.

In the late '20s and early '30s he worked for Denver Water Department as a mining foreman on enlarging the Moffat Railroad Tunnel's pioneer bore. When the project was finished, he joined the Utah Construction Co. under contract to build the railroad tunnel.

Dewey returned to DWD in 1944 as a laborer in the old City Division. Later he was promoted to pipeman, than a caulker, and in 1959 worked as a valve and hydrant maintenance man in T&D, until retirement in 1964 after 17 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel of the family home in Osceola; a daughter, Mabel Chacon, Denver; brothers A.L., Abilene TX., and Lee of Denver; sisters, Priscella Miller, Salina, Kans., and Mary Rohrer, San Diego, and several grand and great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted at Presentation of Our Lady Catholic Church with interment following in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Abraham Miller was the brother of my gt gt grand father George Miller. They were the sons of John and Susanna Berlet Miller from Ohio.
Abraham moved to Iowa but later returned to Indiana. Many of his children went farther west and made their homes.

DALE MAHER FUNERAL TO BE WEDNESDAY

Full Military Service To Be Conducted At Arlington Cemetery At Washington, D.C.

Galena, Kan., Sept. 13---Full military honors will be accorded Dale W. Maher, 51 years old, first secretary to the legation at Pretoria, Union of South Africa, at services to be held at Arlington national cemetery at Washington, D.C., at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.

Maher, a former resident of Joplin and a son of A. C. Maher, former mayor of Joplin who now resides in Galena, was found dead in his motor car June 7 just outside the city of Pretoria.

The body was cremated following services held at Pretoria and the ashes were sent to the United States to be buried at the national military cemetery after ceremonies such as the nation reserves for its high ranking officials.

Maher's wife and stedaughter, Wendy, recently arrived in the United States from South Africa and are residing in Washington, D.C., for the present. Maher's brother, Howard F. Maher, and Mrs. Maher, of Galena, went to Washington several days ago and will attend the services. Maher's father was unable to make the trip to Washington because of ill health.

Maher, a West Point graduate, had a colorful career in the consular and diplomatic service. In December, 1945, he was sent to South Africa as first secretary to the legation and his wife and stepdaughter joined him there early in 1946. They had been in Pretoria since.
