Samuel B. Evans, Defender of the Alamo

EVANS, SAMUEL B. (1812-1836). Samuel B. Evans, Alamo defender, son of Musgrove and Abi (Brown) Evans, was born in Jefferson County, New York, on January 16, 1812. His grandfather, Samuel Evans, was a general in the colonial army during the American Revolution. His uncle, Gen. Jacob Brown, was at one time commander of the United States Army. Evans died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
